Education is often regarded as a fundamental human right, an essential foundation for both personal and societal development.
I can’t even imagine life without education. Education opens a window into a vastly different reality. A reality where formal learning (not YouTube or social media) shapes every aspect of our existence.
The impact of lack of education has and will continue to have profound implications not only on us as individuals, our Beauty Community moving forward as well.
Immediate impact
In a world both within our Beauty Industry and beyond, we are increasingly driven by knowledge and skills. Education in fact, acts as a gateway to employment and success.
The absence of education stifles upward mobility. It limits advances and growth and it perpetuates cycles of low income with access to a better standard of living.
Why? Because individuals without education face a restricted job market, have limited skills which will dictate limited income.
Health and wellbeing
Being educated is also closely linked to health awareness and access to healthcare. How? Those without education are less likely to understand basic health practices leading to higher rates of illness. Why? Low self esteem, low confidence, low drive.
All this, leads to more poor overall health, leading to less motivation etc. etc.
Social engagement
When uneducated we are less likely to participate in activities. Activities where we meet fellow piers, engage in personal interaction leading to an inability to effectively communicate with each other and our clients.
This lack of education or disengagement, weakens the human soul, weakens our Businesses and in fact hinders all community development. Let’s face it….the Beauty Industry is all about human interaction and community development.
More broad implications include;
- Growth and Development
- Diminished aspirations
- Cultural and intelectual stagnation
- Intergenerational impact
Education is the cornerstone of all development. Education fosters innovation, increases productivity and drives growth.
Education expands horizons and fuels aspirations. Without education individuals may struggle to envision a future beyond their immediate circumstances. This lack of hope and ambition stifles personal growth and limits potential achievements.
The lack of critical thinking can stop progress and stop us from adapting to an ever changing world. And, I think you would agree, our Beauty world is ever changing extremely fast.
The impact of education or lack thereof will make a huge impact on future generations. Children of uneducated parents are less likely to attend school which then perpetuates a cycle of poverty and limited opportunity. Breaking this cycle requires a lot of work and the understanding of life without education. Understanding also that life WITH education requires human interaction.
Taking the easy way out or the least expensive way out when it comes to choosing your educational plan needs to be thought with intention. Is your intention just to learn a technique? Is your intention just to receive a certificate? Or…..
Is your intention to foster growth in your Salon, growth within your community, growth for our next generation and growth for our future Beauty world? Or…..
Do you want your life and your future generations to be constrained by limited opportunities, and restricted societal participation?
As I reflect on life without education, I reaffirm my commitment to making our education here at Centre for Beauty accessible to all of you within our Beauty Industry.
